A new week, a closer connection to Hoshiarpur
1–7 November 2026 · Published Sunday, 1 November 2026
Compiled by P. Singh, HT AI Manager
Young people take centre stage in this Sunday’s city read: inclusive sport at Lajwanti Stadium, an awareness programme in Bhungarni and an innovation event on tomorrow’s campus calendar. Here is what has been reported, what is coming up and where to check the details.
The week in focus
Sporting opportunities for students with disabilities
The 70th district-level special sports meet brought students with special needs together at Lajwanti Stadium. The Tribune’s 31 October report records the recognition of winners and the support of teachers, parents and volunteers. It is a reminder that access and encouragement matter alongside sporting results.

Bhungarni students take an awareness message onto the field
A village rally and sports activities at Government Senior Secondary School, Bhungarni, engaged around 40–45 students, according to The Tribune’s report published on 1 November. Races, dodgeball and tug-of-war formed part of the anti-drug awareness programme. The report does not specify a separate event date, so 1 November is identified here as the reporting date.
Coming up · Monday, 2 November
Ideathon at Panjab University’s Hoshiarpur regional centre
UIET and DCSA at the P.U. Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre have announced an Ideathon for 2 November, 1:00–5:00 pm, at the campus auditorium. The official notice was posted on 30 October. Students should confirm participation rules with the organisers; the notice does not establish unrestricted public entry.

NSS speech competition notice
The centre’s official noticeboard also lists a speech competition for 2 November under Vigilance Awareness Week, posted on 29 October. Check the linked notice and confirm time, venue and eligibility with the centre before making plans.
Students and jobseekers · check current notices
The regional centre posted a revised B.A. LL.B./LL.M. MST datesheet and an office order for UILS Hoshiarpur on 30 October. Affected students should consult the latest documents on the official noticeboard rather than circulate older schedules.
The district administration’s Public Recruitments page displayed no matching notices when checked for this edition. That describes this page only; it does not establish that no jobs exist locally. Expired archive entries have not been presented as open vacancies.
Local achievement · a mountain story worth revisiting
Gurcharan Singh of Allahabad village in Hoshiarpur district reached Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit during an expedition from 2 to 5 October, according to The Statesman’s 26 October report. His journey offers a local story of preparation and persistence. The climb took place earlier in October; it is included here as a recent profile, not this week’s event.
